Brabbit becomes Fellow

Lisa Montpetit Brabbit invited to become a member of the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation

Assistant Dean for External Relations and Programs Lisa Montpetit Brabbit has been invited to become a member of the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation.  The Fellows is an honorary organization of attorneys, judges and law professors whose professional, public and private careers have according to the American Bar Foundation website, “. . . demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession.”

This is a prestigious honor, limited to one third of one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in a jurisdiction.  Brabbit was nominated by the current Fellows in Minnesota and elected by the Board of the American Bar Foundation.  The goal of the Foundation is to advance justice through research.

Brabbit has clearly established herself as a leading legal professional in Minnesota.  In June of this year, she received the Hennepin County Bar Association’s Professionalism Award.  In 2005, Minnesota Lawyer honored her as one of fifteen Minnesota Attorneys of the Year.  She serves on the Council of the Minnesota State Bar Association and chairs its General Policy Committee.  She is a past-president of Minnesota Women Lawyers and also serves on its Advisory Board. She serves on the Board of Governors of Minnesota Association for Justice.  She has also been named Super Lawyer, Minnesota Law and Politics, on eight occasions.
