Bryan Ludwig '11 got the chance of a lifetime last week when he served as bullpen catcher for the 2014 All-Star Game, Home Run Derby and Futures Game, all held at Target Field.
Ludwig, who owns Ludwig Law Office and serves as general counsel, director of operations and head coach for PHD Baseball Club, was afforded the all-star opportunity after four years working with the Twins as a rehab bullpen catcher and youth training academy instructor. He walked away with an All-Star uniform displaying his name and number.
"It was an amazing experience, and I could probably write an upper-level paper's worth of stories and experiences," Ludwig said. "I literally had to pinch myself repeatedly to make sure I wasn't dreaming."
His top three moments? Meeting New York Yankee Derek Jeter in the clubhouse; chatting with Minnesota Twins Brian Dozier and Kurt Suzuki; and catching behind home plate for the High School Home Run Derby during commercial breaks and ultimately seeing Miami Marlin Giancarlo Stanton's 510-foot home run from home plate.
