Kate Nilan (’06), an associate at Gray Plant Mooty, was chosen as an Up & Coming Attorney by Minnesota Lawyer. Nilan works in the firm’s Franchise & Distribution practice group, and is also a member of the Government Relations and Intellectual Property & Technology practice groups. Nilan is an active member of the UST Law alumni community, serving for two years on the Alumni Board, as a member of the Class of 2006 Reunion Planning Committee, and as a member of the Annual Giving Committee. Nilan is also a volunteer with the Children’s Law Center and Volunteer Lawyer’s Network (VLN), and she serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of Avenues for Homeless Youth (a 20 bed youth shelter in North Minneapolis) and the Director on the Board of Simon Says Give a nonprofit to help kids give back to other kids). The Up & Coming Attorney recognition highlights those lawyers within their first 10 years of practice who have already distinguished themselves by their achievements. The criteria for selection are: professional accomplishment, leadership service to the community and the profession or achievement as in house counsel.
