Fall Reflection Series: Learning to Forgive

University of St. Thomas School of Law, Room 242

1000 Lasalle Ave. Minneapolis, MN

In the Lord’s Prayer Christians pray, “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” Many of us say those words many times each week and some every day. Yet forgiveness is something we struggle with. For many of us, accepting God’s forgiveness of us is difficult. Even more of us struggle even harder with forgiving those who have hurt us or those we love.

This five-week reflection series is aimed at healing us learn to forgive more easily. It will help us get in touch with those things that make it difficult for us to forgive, to deal with anger and hurt that hinder forgiveness, to think about how we might better separate forgiveness from our notions of justice and desert. It will also address the difficulty of accepting, as well as granting, forgiveness. Our time together each week will include a reflection offered by one of Susan Stabile, Mark Osler, Fr. Dan Griffith, Chato Hazelbaker and Jennifer Wright. We will also provide prayer material for your prayer in between retreat sessions and our session together will include time for small group sharing of your prayer experience.

As lunch will be served, please RSVP to Bethany Fletcher at moel1755@stthomas.edu. If you know that you will not be able to attend all sessions, please let Bethany know when you RSVP which sessions you will be attending. (It really helps us to be able to get an accurate lunch count.)

Note: The first four sessions are on Tuesday; the final session is on a Wednesday.

As are all of our retreat programs, this program is sponsored by the Holloran Center.
