Introduction to Legal Practice Areas Workshop for Incoming J.D. Students
Incoming J.D. students: Join us for this workshop and get a head start in planning your legal career! At the event, you will:
1. work with our Career & Professional Development team, who will get to know you and your career goals,
2. receive an introduction to the many different ways you can use your law degree, and
3. be equipped with basic knowledge of legal practice areas so you can engage in conversations with your mentors, professors, classmates and lawyers in different practice areas.
This workshop will consist of informative, interactive and reflective exercises. The practice areas we will go over include: antitrust law, civil litigation, environmental law, family law, government practice, health care law, public interest law, real estate law, tax law, trusts and estates law, and more. You will walk away with a better idea of which areas of law you are interested in, as well as a better understanding of what lawyers in those areas do, which skills they use, and how to get started.
