Employer Type: Employer Type refers what the variety of employer.

The employer types used in this report are Academic, Business/Industry, Government, Law Firm, and Public Interest.

Academic: Any employer in either the private or public sector with a purpose of education. Positions can range from administration to education and be at any level from elementary to higher education. Examples are elementary schools, high schools, college/universities and law schools.
Business/Industry: This category of employer encompasses most employers that are not law firms, public interest agencies, schools or government organizations. Examples include banks, staffing agencies, and corporations.
Government: Government includes all levels of government from city to federal and include tribal governments. Examples include military JAG Corps, Non-JAG military, district attorney offices and judicial clerkships.
Law Firm: Any job within a private practice employer. Examples include attorneys, paralegals, law clerk and clerical staff.
Public Interest: A Public Interest employer is one that offers civil legal services. Examples are public defenders, religious organizations, social services, community resources and cause-related organizations.

Type of Job: Job type is the level of education and skills required to be hired for a specific job and if the position is full-time or part-time. It also includes whether or not an unemployed graduate is actively seeking employment or enrolled in a full-time degree granting program.

Job Types used in this report are Bar Admission Required, JD Advantage, Other Professional, Other Non-Professional, Enrolled in a Full-Time Degree Program, Not Employed - Start Date Deferred, Seeking Employment, Not Seeking Employment, Working - Type of Job Unknown, Employment Status Unknown and Full-Time vs. Part-Time.

Bar Admission Required: This job requires that the graduate pass the bar and be licensed to practice the bar in one more or more jurisdictions.
JD Advantage: Any job where the employer sought a graduate with their JD or having a JD provides an advantage in obtaining the job or performing the job, but does not require bar passage or an active license.
Other Professional: Any position that requires professional skills but a JD does not add an advantage to obtaining or performing the job.
Other Non-Professional: A job that does not require professional training or skills.
Enrolled in a Full-Time Degree Program: A graduate is considered enrolled in a full-time degree program if they are attending a degree granting institution or continuing education certificate program.
Not Employed - Start Date Deferred: A written offer of employment has been offered and accepted but the graduate has not started as of February 15.
Seeking Employment: A graduate is considered to be seeking work if they are not employed in any capacity outside of the home and are seeking work. Graduates who are not employed but are volunteering and seeking employment or studying full-time for the bar are considered to be seeking work.
Not Seeking Employment: If a graduate is not seeking work "outside of the home" they are categorized as not seeking employment. This includes graduates who are volunteering but not seeking work, a graduate that is not seeking due to personal or family circumstances, and graduates who turned down full-time employment and are not actively seeking employment.
Working - Type of Job Unknown: A graduate in this classification is known to be employed but no further information is known.
Employment Status Unknown: This category is used if there is no information known about a graduate. For the purposes of NALP reporting unknown graduates are sometimes removed from the denominator.
Full-Time vs. Part-Time: Full-Time is defined as working five days a week and/or at least 35 hours of work a week.

Percent of Graduates: The denominator used in these statistics is 134 which is the entire graduating Class of 2011.

Percent of Known Graduates: The denominator used in these statistics is 132 which is the total Class of 2011 (134) minus Employment Status Unknown graduates (2). The number of known graduates in the Class of 2011 is 132.

Percent of Employed Graduates: The denominator used is in these statistics is 115 which is the total number of employed graduates of the Class of 2011 regardless of Type of Job or Employment Type.

Percent of Reported: The denominator used in these statistics is variable and will be listed in the subtotal of each table. The denominator used is the number of Class of 2011 graduates who reported information about a specific employment statistic.

Number Reported: This is the numerator for the graphs and tables in this report. The number reported is the number of graduates in the Class of 2011 who supplied information about an employment statistic.
