Each month, CPD features a law student or alum who has shown ownership of his or her career development. This is an excellent way for you to learn from and get to know your peers!

First, I chose UST because of the people. When I visited the school, everyone was welcoming and down-to-earth, which seemed like a good environment to be in for the next three years. The second reason is the school’s emphasis on social justice. There is not enough focus on social justice within the world’s institutions or amongst individuals, so to find a law school that does just that made the decision to attend UST that much easier.
I try to volunteer as much as possible, doing both legal and non-legal work. Also, finding a balance between school and life, although not a part of the “mission” per se, is important because it allows me to stay focused on the things that matter to me most.
Working for Judge Carroll allowed me to work on a variety of aspects of both criminal and civil matters. I spent time observing motion hearings and trials. I researched issues and draft orders. I think being exposed to so many different things in a setting where I had access to several sources who are already familiar with the court system was the best learning opportunity I have been presented with yet.
This is a hard question because I have not “planned” my career. I choose to do things that I care about and interest me. I stay open to the possibilities and try to never say “no” to a new experience.
I am obsessed with watching the Food Network.
