Converting Documents to PDF Format

Convert a Word Document

Resumes, cover letters, and writing samples should all be converted to PDF format before being
sent to a potential employer. This will ensure that your content and layout are locked in place before they are reviewed. Once saved, your document can be uploaded and emailed to potential employers.

Microsoft Office Word 2007:

  1. Click the Microsoft logo in the top left corner.
  2. Hover on Save As and select “PDF or XPS”.
  3. Save the PDF to your computer.

 Microsoft Office Word 2010:

  1. Click File, then Share, then “Create PDF/XPS Document” under File Types.
  2. Click the “Create a PDF/XPS” button on the right.
  3. Save the PDF to your computer.

Convert an Unofficial Transcript

As long as an unofficial transcript is acceptable for the employer, you can download your transcript from Murphy Online and upload to a website or email it by converting it to a PDF file.

  1. All UST Law School computers have PDF Creator installed on them. You can use this to save or print a PDF copy of your transcript.
  2. Log in to Murphy Online.
  3. Select Student Services.
  4. Select Student Records.
  5. Select Academic Transcript.
  6. Transcript Level = All Levels; Transcript Type = Web Unofficial; Hit Submit.
  7. In the browser screen go up to File. Select Print.
  8. When the Print Screen appears under Printer Name, select PDF Creator (as opposed to the
    default printer). Hit Print.
  9. The PDF file will generate. Name it and save it accordingly.
