When looking at law schools, I wanted to stay in Minnesota. I went to private Catholic school for K-12 and the mission of UST aligned with my beliefs and background. I also liked that the classes were small.
The focus on social justice is important to me. I want to work in the community with people that are low income and can’t afford an attorney. I want to make a difference in the system and in people’s individual lives.
My favorite experience was working at the Legal Rights Center. I had the opportunity to go to court every day. I started in January 2008 and received the MJF clerkship position for the following summer. I enjoyed the hands-on experience of practicing, interacting with clients, negotiating the deals, and discussing the cases with the judge in chambers. My supervising attorney gave me the opportunity to just practice and pushed me to step out of my shell.
I have 8 different nationalities – German, French, Canadian French, Dutch, Scottish, Mexican, African American, and Cherokee Indian.
