About the Alumni Association
The UST School of Law Alumni Association was founded in 2006. All graduates of the School of Law belong to the Alumni Association. No dues are charged for membership.
The Law Alumni Advisory Board directs and conducts the business and affairs of the Alumni Association, advances the UST Law mission, and furthers the goals and objectives of the Alumni Association. The Board includes four officers (Past-President, President, President-elect and Secretary/Treasurer), 15 directors and the Student Government President. Each officer holds a one-year term, and each director holds a two-year term. The President and the Past-President also hold a seat on the UST Law Board of Governors.
The goals and objectives of the Alumni Association are as follows:
- Advising and informing the Dean, the administration and the faculty in matters important to the School of Law and its community;
- Fostering a spirit of public service within the communities in which its members live and work;
- Recognizing the personal and professional accomplishments of the members of the School of Law community;
- Promoting and participating in the activities and academic programs of the School of Law;
- Maintaining and supporting relationships among alumni;
- Contributing to the long-term financial success of the School of Law;
- Recruiting and supporting the candidacies of excellent prospective students, faculty and staff for the School of Law;
- Assisting the School of Law alumni and students with career opportunities and development; and
- Promoting the highest aspirations for the profession and the practice of law.
From time to time, the goals and objectives of the Alumni Association may be reviewed and amended by a majority vote of the members of the Advisory Board. The goals and objectives are set forth in the Alumni Board's Bylaws .
Alumni Association Committees & Taskforces
In addition to Board positions, the Alumni Association offers graduates other ways to be engaged. The Alumni Board has several committees and taskforces the fulfill the purpose of the Alumni Association, consistent with the mission of the School of Law. Each commitee is comprised of at least one Board member, along with other members of the Alumni Association who express an interest in the committee or task force. Other Ways to Get Involved and Partner with the School of Law
Outside of the Alumni Association Board and Committees, there are many other ways that alumni can remain engaged and connected to each other, faculty, staff and the broader School of Law community. Please visit the Alumni Resources and Opportunities to learn more.
Board Applications
We are accepting applications for the 2013 Alumni Board. If you are interested in serving in a leadership position, please consider the following positions available commencing January 1, 2013:
Secretary/Treasurer: an officer position, automatic succession to the position of President-elect, President and Past-president.
Director, 2 year term: a voting member of the Board, 8 positions open.
For a more detailed and complete understanding of the responsibilities of serving on the Board and selection criteria, please see the Bylaws and Board Selection Criteria. Please note that each term will begin in January and conclude in December.
To apply, please complete the Board Application and submit your letter of interest and resume. Applications and supporting documents are due no later than November 30, 2012. Appointments will be announced at the Alumni Christmas Celebration in December.
