The University of St. Thomas School of Law seeks students who want a challenging environment in which to discover how the law fits with their faith, values and visions of themselves as lawyers. The application process is designed to discover students who show great potential to distinguish themselves academically and to take control of their legal education in ways that permit the integration of faith into their professional character and identity.
The Admissions Committee reviews applications to understand the strengths, skills and unique perspectives of each applicant. This means the Admissions Committee examines quantitative criteria, such as LSAT scores and undergraduate transcripts, but also focuses on evidence of writing skills, leadership experience and potential, motivation and commitment to the School of Law mission. The Admissions Committee carefully examines all student materials to determine whether the University of St. Thomas School of Law is a good fit for the student and whether the student is a good fit for the School of Law. Personal statements, letters of recommendation and other information help to expand the committee's view of candidates. These supporting materials are critical to the admissions process and help further the committee's understanding about potential students when applicants are open and forthright about goals, challenges and ideas about the kind of legal education environment they desire.
