The University of St. Thomas School of Law offers students the best in legal education. By applying through the Tommie Law Early Admission Program, you are exempt from taking the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). You will have completed the application process prior to the start of the final year of your undergraduate career and can focus on your coursework and graduation requirements. Fill out an application and mail to the UST Law Office of Admissions at MSL 124 or email it to lawschool@stthomas.edu.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the Office of Admissions at the School of Law has received all documents needed to complete the application for admission. To complete the application, the Office of Admissions must receive:

• A completed application
• A personal statement
• Two letters of recommendation from UST Faculty sent directly from the faculty members to the School of Law Office of Admissions

By submitting a certified application for admission, you authorize our access to the ACT and/or SAT scores submitted as part of the undergraduate admissions process. It is understood that the score(s) will be used to evaluate the application for admission through the Tommie Law Early Admission Program. You can apply through the Tommie Law Early Admission Program. The University of St. Thomas School of Law accepts applications for the Tommie Law Early Admission program from UST undergraduate students in the summer before their senior year who have earned at least 96 credits of which at least 32 credits were earned at UST. Applicants to the 2012 Tommie Law Early Admission Program would begin their law studies with the fall 2013 entering class so would need to have completed all of the requirements of the undergraduate degree from UST prior to their fall 2013 law school matriculation.

If you are a transfer student to the University of St. Thomas, you can still apply through the Tommie Law Early Admission Program but you must have earned at least 32 credits at UST prior to being considered for admission. Applicants to the 2012 Tommie Law Early Admission Program would begin their law studies with the fall 2013 entering class so must complete all the requirements of a UST undergraduate degree prior to their fall 2013 law school matriculation.

No. You can only apply to the Tommie Law Early Admission Program the year prior to the completion of your undergraduate degree. The correlation analysis conducted in preparation for the development of this program used data consistent with early admission after the completion of at least 96 credits and the program is designed for undergraduate students completing their junior year.

We do not charge an application fee and there will be no fees associated with an LSAT or the Credential Assembly Service. The only cost incurred is if you are admitted to the program in which case you are asked to pay the $500.00 tuition deposit in August and a second deposit of $250.00 in February of 2013. The $750.00 will appear as a credit to your student account after you have started classes at the law school.

Yes. To evaluate your application, we will use your undergraduate grades and ACT or SAT score along with other criteria such as letters of recommendation, personal statement, evidence of leadership skills, commitment to service, and mission fit.

The University of St. Thomas School of Law joins a small group of law schools with similar programs. Other law schools with similar programs include the University of Minnesota, Northwestern and Georgetown.

The Tommie Law Early Admission Program (TLEAP) is a nonbinding program. You can choose to take the LSAT after gaining admission to the TLEAP; however, if you want the LSAT score considered as part of your application, you would need to withdraw from TLEAP and apply through the regular admission process.

Yes.  The Board of Law Examiners does not require an LSAT score.

No. We do not require a minimum undergraduat GPA or test score. These are just two factors that are used in evaluating your application to UST Law.

You are required to submit at least two letters of recommendation from St. Thomas faculty who are familiar with your academic work.

Your two recommendations from faculty at St. Thomas should be sent directly from the recommender through campus mail to the law school admissions office, MSL 124, emailed to lawschool@stthomas.edu, or faxed to 651-962-4876.

Applicants are selected for interviews by the admissions committee. Not every applicant will be selected for an interview.

Each applicant to the Tommie Law Early Admission Program will be considered for admission and scholarship. Scholarship recipients are informed of any scholarship award in their decision letter.

You will be required to pay a nonrefundable tuition deposit of $500 by August 15, 2013 and a second deposit in February 2014 of $250 to hold your seat in the fall 2014 entering class.

Yes.  The Tommie Law Early Admission Program is nonbinding.  Other law schools will require that you take the LSAT and register through LSAC for the JDCAS (LSDAS) service.

Admitted applicants will be asked to complete an enrollment agreement form but your decision to enroll is nonbinding.
