Application Process

Prospective students are required to submit an application, a non-refundable application fee of $50, and a personal statement. A complete report from the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) is also required. This report should include a reportable LSAT score, at least two letters of recommendation, and a copy of all transcripts from post-secondary institutions.

You can complete an online application form. The University of St. Thomas Law online application service is managed by the Law School Admission Council. You will be asked to register for the LSAC e-application service (even if you already have an LSAC user account.) If you run into technical difficulty with the online application, please call LSAC's Help Desk at (215) 968-1393.

Application deadlines

The University of St. Thomas School of Law will begin accepting applications for the 2008-2009 academic year in September 2007 and will accept applications until July 1, 2008. However, the School of Law is on a rolling admissions system, and your chances of being admitted and of receiving a scholarship will be enhanced if you apply early.

Application Criteria

Because of its special mission, the University of St. Thomas School of Law uses a highly personalized admissions system. Your application will be assessed based on six criteria:

  1. LSAT score
  2. Undergraduate grades
  3. Writing skills
  4. Leadership potential
  5. Motivation
  6. Demonstrated ability to contribute to UST Law's mission

Although your LSAT score and grade point average will be important, your application will not be accepted or rejected based solely upon those criteria. Rather, the Application Committee also will consider your activities, experiences, letters of recommendation and personal statement, and make a qualitative decision based upon all of the criteria identified above.

LSAT Scores

The School of Law prefers not to consider LSAT scores that are more than three years old. In no case will we consider an LSAT score that is more than five years old. If you have multiple LSAT scores, each score will be reviewed, along with the average calculated by the LSDAS. As indicated above, your LSAT score(s) represent one of several factors the Admissions Committee evaluates in making a qualitative assessment of your application.

The median LSAT of the fall 2007 entering class was 157.
