What do you do with a justice and peace studies major or minor?

Teach exotic people in exotic places.

Bridget Green. 1992, major in social studies-sociology; justice and peace minor.

As part of her justice and peace class, Bridget wrote to a political prisoner in Northern Ireland.  He wrote back, and a regular conversation developed. 

The next semester when she studied in Ireland she visited him and his family.  Her comment on her foreign studies: "Best experience of my life." 

In the fall of 1996 she began teaching fourth grade in a Catholic school on the island of Saipan near Guam in the Pacific. 

Now she is back teaching in inner-city schools in the Twin Cities.
