Why study Justice and Peace Studies abroad?

1. To develop solidarity with people confronting situations of injustice, poverty and social conflict.

2. To do your JPST internship in front-line areas of human need and social change.

3. To expand your cross-cultural communication, foreign language, and problem solving skills as you interact with faculty and students from around the world.

4. To broaden your academic horizons.

5. To develop intellectually, emotionally, culturally, and socially.

Can I take my JPST course(s) in English?

Yes. Justice and peace studies courses in English are offered worldwide.  It is often possible to study justice and peace studies in English and take an introductory language at the same time.

Can I afford it?

Yes! The cost of studying abroad is within the reach of most UST students.  Financial aid applies to semester study abroad, and students not currently receiving financial aid may be eligible for loans.  In addition, there are special scholarships for studying abroad.

So…what do I do next?

1. Begin planning right away--it is never too early to start!  Stop by UST's International Education Center (IEC) office or website, sign up for their “First Step” session, and use their library to begin researching destinations.

1. Explore study abroad options through partner programs we recommend at our local sister institutions:

1. Set some goals. There is no one program best suited for all JPST majors. You need to determine which one best fits you. Prioritize your goals. Consider your long-term academic, professional, and career goals.

1. Think about what you want to learn from (and what you can contribute to) the program, college, and country where you want to be.

1. Prepare academically. You may need to take prerequisites or plan for classes upon your return.

1. Start a budget.
