Public relations consultant; producer of a nationally syndicated radio show; account executive at Fleishman-Hillard; assistant account executive at Schindler Communications, Inc.; public relations writer for the University of Illinois Eye Center; editorial associate at the International Society of Refractive Keratoplasty.

Scholarship and service:
Professor Gavrilos conducts research that addresses how media construct racial, ethnic, national and other identity categories in particular communities.  She has published and presented her work in such venues as the Journal of Communication Inquiry, the International Communication Association, the Cultural Studies Association, and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.  She contributed a chapter on "Understanding the PR-Journalist Working Relationship" to the 7th edition of News Writing and Reporting for Today's Media by Bruce Itule and Doug Anderson (New York: McGraw-Hill).  She has been a visiting lecturer at Diponegoro University in Semarang, Indonesia, and at the Universidad del Noroeste in Hermosillo, Mexico.

At UST:
Professor Gavrilos joined UST in 2006.  She serves as co-advisor to the UST Public Relations Student Society of America chapter.
