Telephones on Campus

ITS manages thousands of phone lines across all campuses. Students are able to take advantage of telephone services at St. Thomas such as long distance calling and on campus voicemail.

When students arrive on campus, each room is assigned a telephone and individual voicemailbox (651-497-xxxx) for each student in the room.  If you are unaware of your campus phone or voicemail information, you should contact Residence Life for assistance.

St. Thomas Digital phones are provided in all rooms except those in Flynn Hall, 2051 Grand Apartments, 2085 Grand Apartments, and apartments above the Child Development Center. 

Moving?

If you move into a new room, you should contact Residence Life for assistance. Your long distance code will stay the same for your entire stay at St. Thomas and works from any campus telephone.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a phone in my room?

Analog phones are automatically provided in all rooms except those in Flynn Hall, 2051 Grand Apartments, 2085 Grand Apartments, and apartments above the Child Development Center.

Those living in Flynn, Grand Avenue Apartments or above the Child Development Center need to provide their own analog telephone sets. A dial tone and voicemail boxes are provided to these rooms and once you plug in the set, you will have access to them.

Can I make a long distance call?

Yes. You will need your long distance authorization code. 

How do I obtain my authorization code?

If you are living on-campus and would like to obtain an authorization code for use from campus phones, contact the Get Help for assistance.

If you are an off-campus student but would like to take advantage of our long distance rates (while on campus), please contact the Get Help for an authorization code.

How to make a long distance call

Dial 8 + (Or Country Code) + area code + phone number
At the tone, enter your long distance code code and your call will complete.

How much does it cost?

Our domestic flat rates are: $.07 per minute and are charged to student's account by the Business Office. Students receive a separate detailed report via email as well of their calls and charges.

My phone isn't working

Telephone repair service is available to students, faculty, and staff who have a problem with their telephone. Unless intentional damage is involved, there are no charges for repair services.

Repairs

If you have problems with your phone or voicemail, complete an online Request for Services:

  1. Login to RFS.
  2. In the right column of the page click: Information Technology Services (ITS)
  3. Select: Voice Services.
  4. When prompted, enter your username and Password.
  5. Complete the online form in the left column of the page. Be sure to include the required fields, and a description of the problem.

Will I get billed?

Students placing long distance calls will be billed to their monthly tuition statement from the Business Office.

Charges will not be detailed on your tuition statement; however, students will receive a separate detailed report via email.

How do I make a call?

To another St. Thomas phone

Simply enter the last 5-digits of the phone number (Eg. 2-6230). 

To an non-St. Thomas number

Dial 8 first to reach outside numbers + area code + phone number

To make a long distance call

Dial 8 + 1 + area code + phone number. At the beep, you will need to enter your authorization code.

To make an international call

Dial 8 + 011 for the U.S. exit code + Country Code + International Phone number. At the beep, you will need to enter your authorization code.
