Long Distance - Faculty & Staff
Information about Faculty and Staff Long Distance.
Long distance service at the university is handled a bit differently than long distance service at home. Read on for more information about rates, accessing long distance numbers, and billing.
Authorization Codes
St. Thomas provides an authorization code for each faulty and staff member to make long distance calls. There is no monthly fee for having a code; charges will only accrue when the code is used. At the end of each month, a detailed report of calls and charges will be sent to you via e-mail. If you've used your code for personal calls, see the Payments section for information on reimbursing the university.
Long Distance Carrier
We purchase our long distance services through USAcomm, Inc.
Rates
Although international rates will vary, our domestic flat rates are $.06 per minute (all day, every day).

Dialing Long Distance Calls |
Telecom assigns a personal authorization code after New Hire Orientation. The code is 7 digits long and can be used from any phone on campus. To use the code, dial 8 + 1 + area code + number. At the tone, enter your code and your call will be completed.

Long Distance Billing |
Each month, you will receive a call accounting detail report via e-mail, listing the calls made with your long distance code. If any of the calls were not work-related, you can reimburse the university at the Business Office window in Aquinas, or by remitting payment to AQU 116. Don't forget to add your departmental account number when sending payments!
 |
Calling Cards |
If you are going to be traveling, IRT can order a calling card for you. The charges will be added to your monthly call accounting report.
