MyStorage

MyStorage

An introduction to MyStorage, an individual storage directory for all students, faculty, and staff...

MyStorage

As a St. Thomas student, faculty or staff member, you can create and store personal documents on our network.  This is an excellent resource for storing papers, resumes, and other files you don’t want to lose — and you can access these files from either on or off campus. This central storage space  called MyStorage, is backed up nightly, so it is much more reliable than floppy, zip disks or USB keys — and a server is much harder to misplace!

The MyStorage directory has 500MB of storage space, and is available from any workstation or lab computer on campus, and from off campus by using WebDAV. Access to MyStorage is controlled by password, so it’s private. On lab PCs, this storage directory is automatically mapped to your U:\ drive; a shortcut called MyStorage is placed on both PC and Mac desktops. You can save documents to this directory using an application’s “Save” function, or drag-and-drop icons.

MyStorage is a great place to save documents; and remember it is backed up nightly so you don’t have to worry about losing any of your important files.

WebDAV

WebDAV stands for "Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning". A set of extensions to the http protocol, it allows you to use drag-and-drop functionality to edit and manage files on the university servers (e.g., deptstore1, MyStorage and MyWeb).

Step-by-step instructions for using WebDAV can be found here.

For more information about WebDAV itself, visit the www.webDAV.org site.
