Your Net ID / UST Account
You are automatically assigned an account when you become part of the UST community. Your UST account consists of a Net ID (username) and password that allows you to login to campus computers, connect to your email mailbox, login to Blackboard, and provides you access to MyStorage (your central storage directory) and MyUST (your personal web directory).
You will be prompted for your Net ID and password when you login to computers connected to the UST network, or when trying to gain access to certain UST network resources (like MyStorage) via the internet.
If you are a hiring manager and need to begin the account creation process for a new employee, please use the New Employee Web Form
Activating Your Account
To activate your UST account vist: www.stthomas.edu/new This webpage will walk you through setting up your password and activating your account. For questions about your Net ID account visit the Net ID FAQs page.
Your Net ID / UST Username
You may select any password you like as long as it meets the following conditions:
- Your password needs to be at least 6 characters long.
- Your password needs to include uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers.
- Your password may not include your first name, last name or Net ID.
At St. Thomas, your email password and your account password are one and the same. When you login to a computer on the UST network to read your email the UST server validates your password.
Changing your Password
Passwords expire every 120 days
Advance warning of upcoming password expiration occurs 14 days prior to expiration when the user logs into their email account, with repeated reminders each time they login until the expiration date.
Any account holder may change his or her password at any time, and it is not necessary to wait for expiration.
Faculty/Staff or students who are logged on to a PC joined to the UST domain may change their password by loging into the Net ID system and selecting the change password option.
If you do not know your password, or would like to change an expired password visit the Net ID system and select forgotten password.
If you are unable to change your password by using the password changing page, please contact the IRT Tech Desk.
