Working with Text and Applying Styles back
Template Text Boxes
When you open an existing page, or create a new page, you will see the dotted outline of a box. These text boxes are where you click to begin typing text. Anything outside of the text boxes are part of the template design and cannot be changed in the editor. Changes that need to be made to the template should be discussed with your Site Manager.
- Recommendation:
Type all of the text for the new page using the Normal text font for that template. Then, go back and begin applying any Style fonts to the appropriate text. If you try to apply styles as you type, the styles may try to carry over to your next paragraph. Remember to save your changes often!
-
Using the UNDO link:
In the upper-right corner of your contribution editor window you will see an UNDO link.
If you make a change to your page, and do not like what you see, it is recommended you click the UNDO button immediately. Do not continue to make changes to the page, and then try to UNDO later. You will have more success if you use the UNDO button right away. Note that you will encounter some functions for which the UNDO link will simply not work.
Template Styles
For each new web site in Collage, styles have been created to maintain consistency in the appearance of our text content and headings. This provides a more consistent viewing experience for our visitors as well. Each template will also have a consistent selection of font colors and sizes. So, instead of applying specific font typefaces and font sizes, an editor simply applies the appropriate style, and the font and size are applied automatically.
Applying a Style to Text
- Highlight the text to which you will apply the style.
- From the Collage Toolbar, click the Style button.
- From the drop-down list, choose the appropriate style.
In our case, heading1 for our main heading.
