Your UST NetID

Overview

Your NetID is your primary UST account. Your NetID and password allow you to log on to UST domain computers, log into the email server, Blackboard and to access UST network resources from non-UST computers. You are automatically assigned an account when you become part of the UST community. Your UST account consists of a NetID (username) and password.

Password Requirements
You may select any password you like as long as it meets the following conditions:

  • Your password is required to be at least 6 characters long.
  • Your password is required to include at least (1) uppercase letter, (1) lowercase letter and (1) number.
  • Your password may not include your first name, last name, username/NetID, or last 4 digits of your Social Security number.
  • Your password may not include spaces or any of the following special characters: % * ; " ` # @ & , \ ; ---

Passwords expire every 120 days. To reset your password visit www.stthomas.edu/password. Any account holder may change his or her password at any time, and it is not necessary to wait for expiration. In order to reset your password after expiration you must have answered your NetID challenge questions. To complete or change your challenge questions login at www.stthomas.edu/password.

Who Qualifies
All active UST students, faculty, staff; and approved consultants qualify for a NetID. Visitors or guests who require UST resources and are sponsored by a program or department also qualify for a NetID.

Account Expiration/Purge
NetID accounts will expire based on existing UST policy, according to the type of account:

  • Student: 365 days after last active term

Getting Started

Activating Your Account
All new students may use the account activation process by visiting: www.stthomas.edu/new. You will need to have a NetID claim code in order to complete the activation process. If you do not have access to your claim code, please contact the IRT Tech Desk .

New Accounts

New student accounts are created after the student has been formally accepted to UST. It takes approximately 24 hours for the account creation process to be completed. If you have questions about the admissions process please contact your admissions coordinator.

New students will receive a NetID and account claim code in the mail shortly after acceptance at UST.
