Mapping a UST printer to your personal PC

Windows XP, Windows 7

  1. Connect to a UST Network via the Wi-Fi or a wired ethernet connection
  2. Open a web browser and login to the purple UST Network Authentication Page with your UST username and password
  3. Agree to the Acceptable Use Policy
  4. Go to your Start menu
  5. Click on Run
  6. In the “Open” field, enter in \\ust-printX where the X is replaced with the corresponding number of the campus you are on and wish to print to
    1. 1 – St. Paul (North Campus)
    2. 2 – St. Paul (South Campus, Summit, Grand, & Cleveland)
    3. 3 – Minneapolis
  7. Click OK
  8. At the Windows Security window prompt, login with your UST username and password.
    1. NOTE: You must enter UST\ before your username.
  9. A new dialogue window will appear. Locate the printer you wish to add. Double click on the printer icon.
    1. If this is your first time connecting to this particular printer, follow the prompts to all the driver to be installed. The pop up window will give the option to “Install driver”
  10. Click OK
  11. Once the printer is finished mapping, it will launch a new window to show current printing jobs
    *Note: Steps 1-9 will need to be repeated each time you wish to print to a UST printer

Windows 8

  1. Connect to a UST Network via the Wi-Fi or a wired ethernet connection
  2. Open a web browser and login to the purple UST Network Authentication Page with your UST username and password
  3. Agree to the Acceptable Use Policy
  4. From your Desktop window, hover your mouse over the lower right hand corner of your screen
  5. From the menu that appears, click on the search icon
  6. Type in the word "Run" and press Enter
  7. Click on the Run application from the list of found apps
  8. In the “Open” text field, enter in \\ust-printX where the X is replaced with the corresponding number of the campus you are on and wish to print to (e.g. \\ust-print1 )
    1. 1 – St. Paul (North Campus)
    2. 2 – St. Paul (South Campus, Summit, Grand, & Cleveland)
    3. 3 – Minneapolis
  9. Click OK
  10. At the Windows Security prompt, login with your UST username and password.
    1. NOTE: You must enter UST\ before your username.
  11. A new dialogue window will appear. Locate the printer you wish to add. Double click on the printer icon.

  12. Click OK

To remove a printer

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Click on “Devices and Printers”
  3. Select the icon of the printer you wish to make the default
  4. Under File,  choose “Remove Device”
  5. Restart your computer
