In order to make a long distance phone call from on-campus you must use a long distance code provided by IRT.
St. Thomas provides an authorization code for each faulty and staff member to make long distance calls. There is no monthly fee for having a code; charges will only accrue when the code is used. At the end of each month, a detailed report of calls and charges will be sent to you via e-mail. If you've used your code for personal calls you may reimburse the university. You can do this either at the Business Office window or by sending payment via intercampus mail to the Business Office AQU116. Please add your department account number.
Although international rates will vary, our domestic flat rates are $.06 per minute (all day, every day).
To make a long distance call from on campus, dial 8 + 1 + area code + number. At the tone, enter your code and your call will be completed. For International Calls dial 8+011+country code+city code+phone number. Make sure to wait for the tone and then enter your authorization code.
Each month, you will receive a call accounting report via e-mail, listing the calls made with your long distance code. If any of the calls were not work-related, you can reimburse the university at the Business Office window in Aquinas, or by remitting payment to AQU 116. Don't forget to add your departmental account number when sending payments!
If you are going to be traveling, IRT can order a calling card for you. The charges will be added to your monthly call accounting report.
Since the university is tax exempt, you will not be charged tax.
