The tools used, the development methodology, and the team process will vary from project to project. However, every project initiated in IRT after March 1, 1999, should include the following:
Develop a project proposal using the on-line form or outline and submit it to the IRT Council. The Council will review all project requests weekly, and respond with acceptance, questions, or rejection of the proposal.
Create a folder in the USTdeptstore1/deptsf-k/IRT/Projects directory, named for the project. Storing all documents related to the project in that folder ensures easy access for the project team.
Create a Statement of Work (long form for large projects, short form for medium and small projects), and review it in a "walkthrough" meeting with members of the proposed project team, as well as any other individuals inside of or outside of IRT who might be interested in learning about the project.
Identify all project tasks and create a task list as a "roadmap" for your project team.
E-mail status reports to your project sponsor and Ann Burke by the 15th of each month as long as the project is active. Periodically, the project manager and/or team may be called upon to deliver a report in person at a monthly project portfolio review meeting.
The implementation plan should include communication and documentation plans, as well as training plans for internal IRT staff (Rapid Response team and technical support specialists especially) and faculty, staff, and students as appropriate.
