Blackboard Training Sessions for January and February, 2013

Blackboard Essentials Class
This is the class to attend if you are new to Blackboard, or if you are a current Blackboard instructor, leader or site builder. Using practice courses, participants will explore these basic course-building skills:
- Course Design Issues and Strategies
- Building a Course Menu
- Adding Course Materials
- Using the Control Panel

Grade Center and Rubrics Class
In this hands-on lab session, faculty will learn how to use the Blackboard Grade Center to enter, manage and calculate student grades. You will also utilize the new Blackboard Rubrics tool to create a grid containing evaluation criteria for student assignment submissions.

SafeAssign Plagiarism Detection Tool Demonstration In this demonstration, learn how Blackboard’s “SafeAssignments” tool can help you review your students’ papers. Even if you don’t have concerns about plagiarism, you can learn the power of “off-label uses” for SafeAssign in your courses. This session is also available as a web presentation, please register to receive instructions.

Blackboard Open Lab Sessions Blackboard Open Labs provide the opportunity for any faculty member to drop in for assistance with Blackboard functionality. IRT’s Academic Technology Consultants will be on hand to work with you individually at your pace. Whether you are confused about how a tool works, wish to adopt a new feature, or need advice, this is a chance to advance your skills with online course management. No registration is required for open labs.
