The Operations Department is responsible for the technical support across campus comprised of 4 areas: Client Services, Technical Operations & Support, Network & Telecom Services, and Media & Event Services.
Client Services provides a single point of presence for accessing academic and administrative technology support services - in person, online, or by phone - along with the complex coordination, cross-training and support, and knowledge management essential to success.
Whatever your relationship to the University: student, faculty, staff, friend, alumni, parent... IRT Client Services exists as your first point of contact for technology support services via the Tech Desk.
Located in primarily OEC LL08 on the St. Paul campus, and "Scholars" on the 2nd floor of MOH in Minneapolis Client Services work groups contain: Administrative Technology Support (CORE Team), the Rapid Response Team, the Budgets, Acquisitions and Inventory Team, the Tech Desk.
Technical Operations & Support
The Information Technology (IT) department maintains the servers and infrastructure that are used for most applications and technical services at the University of St. Thomas. The IT department is comprised of 43 people - divided into five support teams; Business Intelligence, Enterprise Systems Services, IT Operations, Technical Process Analysts, and Web Services.
IT supports over 400 servers running 90+ academic and administrative applications. Equipment we use to support the campus community is housed in two data centers, one on the St. Paul campus and one on the Minneapolis campus. IT staff also develop and support a large portfolio of web applications and websites used by the university to achieve its mission. Whether you're sending an email, working on an assignment in Blackboard, or even just logging into a computer, odds are you're interacting with one of the servers or systems IT maintains. And, if you’re looking for assistance in developing new business analytics, processes, or technologies, IT staff have the expertise to help guide your project to a successful outcome.
Network & Telecom
Network and Telecom Services (NTS) provides all voice and data service for the university including traditional telephone, Voice Over IP (VOIP), voicemail, unified communications, wired and wireless data, commercial Internet connectivity, and Internet 2.
