IM Touch Football League Rules

We will follow standard touch football rules.  All officials will have a copy.

Teams

6 players on the field at a time per team, but teams may play with 5

All players must be on the team roster and must be committed to only 1 team

All players must be employed or enrolled at UST

Random UST ID checks WILL BE PERFORMED, so make sure EVERYONE BRINGS THEIR UST ID, or players will not be eligible to play

Offense

Offense gets 3 downs in order to get a first down.  First down markers will be located at the 15-30-15 yard lines, regardless of field position

QB may not run unless rushed upon.  Handoffs and pitches to other players are ok at anytime

Must have at least 3 players on the line

All players are eligible receivers

Touchdowns are worth 6 points.  No field goals.  Extra points are worth 1 point from the 3 yard line, and 2 point from the 10 yard line.  Intercepted and returned extra points by the defense are worth 2 points, as well as possession on the 20 yard line on the ensuing possession change.

Defense

No tackling, pushing, biting, etc.  Two hand touch below the shoulders results in player being down

We will have NFL rules on being down.  If the player dives for a pass, or falls on his own, he may get up unless he is touched by an opposing player.

3 defensive players must line up on the line of scrimmage at the beginning of the play.  5 yard penalty if there are not 3 on the line

Defense does not have to rush, but may after a count of “3-Mississippi.”  Early rush will count as a blitz.  If blitz is used, a 5 yard penalty will be issued

Defense gets 1 blitz per drive, not per first down

All pass interference penalties will result in automatic first down at the next down marker for the offense

All fumbles are dead

Special Teams

All kickoffs are from the 10 yard line

Touchbacks result in the ball being placed on the 10 yard line

Offense may punt at any time.  No fake punts.  Teams must still have 3 on the line, and may not leave the line until the ball is punted

Miscellaneous

Game is started with a kickoff from the 10 yard line

Games are comprised of two 20 minute halves, with a 3 minute halftime.  The clock will be running time except for the last 2 minutes of the second half

Each team gets one 45 second timeout per half.  Sorry guys, no challenges.  The budget doesn’t allow for instant replay, or red flags

Absolutely no…

Fighting, or players will be expelled from the league

Metal cleats

Protesting the officials decisions

Missing a game.  If a team does not show up for a game without first notifying a league director at least 24 hours before the game, the TEAM WILL BE EXPELLED FROM THE LEAGUE

SPECIAL NOTES

Games will be scheduled around Vikings games, as well as Twins playoff games

Frequently check the UST Intramural web site for game updates, statistics, standings, pictures, players of the week, and BCS rankings
