Long Term Care Insurance

Voluntary Group Long Term Care Insurance Available Again

ENROLLMENT PERIOD: March 20 to April 14, 2017

The University of St. Thomas is pleased to announce the availability of a new program for Voluntary Group Long Term Care Insurance.

Why consider long term care insurance?

It covers expenses for long term care services received at home, in the community or in a nursing facility. Here are a few quick points to consider:

  • Neither health nor disability insurance will cover this kind of care.
  • Relying on government programs may not be a viable solution.
  • Without insurance, the cost of these services may have to come out of your savings or income.

Learn what long term care insurance can do to help protect your financial future.  As a benefits eligible employee, you can get this coverage for you and/or spouse at competitive group rates.  Coverage under this program is portable, so it can move with you if you change jobs, retire or leave St. Thomas.

With this new program, there is streamlined or modified underwriting only if you are a full-time, benefits eligible, actively-at-work employee and apply during this enrollment period. So take advantage of this one-time opportunity. If you apply after this one-time special enrollment period, you will be subject to full underwriting.  Note, however, that if you are age 66 or older, you will be subject to full underwriting regardless of when you apply for coverage. Spouses and other eligible family members ages 18-75 may apply for coverage at any time and will be subject to full underwriting.

We will be offering informational meetings.  These meetings will include a 30-minute presentation followed by a Q&A session.  See below for the schedule and locations:
