Voluntary Group Legal Benefit: MetLaw
The University of St. Thomas offers MetLaw, a voluntary group legal services benefit administered by Hyatt Legal Plans. MetLaw is designed to provide telephone and in-office consultations and legal representation with network attorneys for a variety of issues, such as:
- Estate-planning documents
- Traffic offenses
- Financial matters
- Real estate matters
- Document preparation
- Elder law matters
- Juvenile court defense
- Family law matters
Employees who elect this coverage are responsible for paying all premiums. In-network attorneys for covered expenses would be at no additional cost to the premium, but any out-of-network attorneys would be reimbursed according to the fee schedule as outlined by Hyatt Legal Plans.
You may enroll in this benefit annually during the open enrollment period, but it does require a one-year commitment. Those who wish to continue coverage do not need to re-enroll each year, but members may only terminate coverage at the next annual enrollment.
