Renaissance Program

The Renaissance Program Professional Minor is composed of six courses from a wide range of professional and pre-professional areas.  Students select from required courses according to personal interest and career plan.

Participants may elect a major field of study in Humanities, Social Sciences or Natural Sciences. Majors from the College of Business or from Health and Human Performance are not eligible for this program.

Participants complete an internship in a career-related field. Students are encouraged to be creative and to search for inventive ways of gaining practical work experience.

Requirements:

1. Participants elect a major field of study from any of the Liberal Arts disciplines: Humanities, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences. Majors from the College of Business or from Health and Human Performances are not eligible for this program.

2. Participants complete an internship in a career-related field.

3. Participants take the Renaissance Program Professional Minor composed of six professional and pre-professional courses. Students select courses based on personal interest and career goals.

Students must complete 24 credits from Economics, CISC, Business and Interdisciplinary Studies. Other courses may be substituted with the approval of the director of the Renaissance Program.

Group I: Economics

Choose one course from the following:
ECON 251    Principles of Macroeconomics
ECON 252    Principles of Microeconomics

Group II: Computer and Information Sciences

Choose one course from the following:
CISC  110    Introduction to Information Processing
CISC  120    Computers in Elementary Education
CISC  230    Object Oriented Design and Programming
CISC  238    Software Design Using Business Languages
IDTH  220    Statistics I

Group III: Business

Choose 12 credits from the following list:
ACCT  210    Introduction to Financial Accounting
ACCT  215    Managerial Accounting
BLAW  301    Legal Environment of Business
FINC   300    Finance for Non-Business Majors
MGMT 305    Management and Organizational Behavior
MKTG  300    Principles of Marketing 

Group IV: Interdisciplinary Studies

One required course:
IDSC   333    Renaissance Program Studies
Prerequisites: Permission of the director of the Renaissance Program or four other courses from this minor.

In addition to the courses listed above, students must complete an internship.  To receive credit for their internships, students must enroll in:

IDSC   330    Renaissance Program Internship (0 credit)
