Professor Wright arrived at St. Thomas in 1968. He was Director of the then-College of St. Thomas Library from 1974 to 1979. Following a Fulbright Lecturing Grant to Japan in 1979 he switched to full-time teaching. His principal upper division courses are: Early American Thought and Culture; American Thought and Culture Since the Civil War; and Introduction to Japanese History and Culture. He was twice a Visiting Professor at Osaka Gakuin Junior College in Japan (1987-9, 1993-4) and has served three terms as chair of the UST History Department.
