Dr. Tim Mead, Associate Professor of Health and Human Performance, is a strong advocate for healthy living. Mead, who was a New York high school state tennis champion, has completed more than 50 triathlons and currently enjoys any activity or sport that involves movement.  Some of his interests are cross country skiing, rowing, kayaking, golfing, weight lifting, and woodworking. In 2005, he completed the Ironman triathlon, which included a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26-mile run in 95-degree weather.
“I participated in numerous team sports as a child and try to be an active, healthy and fit role model to my students,” Mead said. “All my classes involve hands-on active learning experiences where students apply what is learned in the classroom.”
Before coming to St. Thomas, Mead was a professor at Nicholls State University for sixteen years and has also taught at the University of Toledo and Ohio State University. He coached and taught physical education in numerous public and nonpublic school settings.
Mead enjoys working with personable faculty members at St. Thomas who are willing to help students, as well as his daily exercise routines.  Courses that Mead teaches include PE methods, Tests and Measurements, Personal Health and Wellness and Water Safety & Lifeguard Training.
