Underrepresented Students

St. Thomas seeks to encourage and support all students who express an interest in pre-health, especially those who identify with populations traditionally underrepresented in the health professions.  This may be as a result of economic, racial/ethnic, cultural and/or geographic factors.

Some of the ways this support is demonstrated is by linking students to opportunities for involvement and enrichment, both on and off campus. Below are a few examples:

UST Student Diversity and Inclusion Services

The Student Diversity & Inclusion Services office exists to enhance the campus climate for diversity through programs and initiatives aimed at undergraduate students.

Minnesota’s Future Doctors

The Minnesota's Future Doctors program works closely with the Mayo Clinic and University of Minnesota medical schools to increase the amount of applications from minority students (first generation college students, students from underseved communities, etc.). This program is specifically for students who were raised in and attended high school in MN. For more information please visit the website.

Summer Medical and Dental Education Program

The Summer Medical and Dental Education Program is a free (tuition, housing, and meals) six-week summer academic enrichment program that offers freshman and sophomore college students intensive and personalized medical and dental school preparation.
