Scholarships
The Pre-Medical Professions Scholarship Competition occurs annually during spring semester. Historically, the Health Professions Advisory Committee has awarded more than $11,000 each year to students who are planning to apply to medical school. Eligible students have an opportunity to apply for the following scholarships:
The James E. and Katherine C. O'Phelan Scholarship:
This scholarship was established by Dr. Harvey E. O'Phelan to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students who are planning to apply to medical school. The recipient must be a junior or senior in the year the award will be used. Application deadline: Friday, March 8, 2013
The Niels and Carol Sorensen Scholarship:
This scholarship was established by Niels and Carol Sorenson. This scholarship is awarded to a student who is majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or Engineering and is planning to attend medical school. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.6 and be a junior or senior in the year the award will be used. Financial aid note: recipient of this scholarship may not have more than 33% of their tuition already paid by scholarships prior to this award. Application deadline: Friday, March 8, 2013
