Navigation
What makes the Web unique as a medium is the ability to navigate from page to page in a non-linear way. On the UST site there are two basic types of navigation; the first, global navigation (shown below), reflects major categories of university activity. This appears on every page in the site and allows visitors to move about the site in a clear and concise manner.

The second type of navigation is the department specific or local navigation, which allows visitors to navigate through individual sections of the site. These are the major links that you want visitors to find on every page of your site.

When choosing the links that will make up your department navigation,
try to group like items together under a single link. It is a good idea
to keep the number of main local links to a maximum of 10; the visitor
should be able to discern the most likely path where they will find the
information they seek. Links within the department or local navigation
always appear in white.
