Program Entrance Requirements:

To apply for admission to a master's degree or graduate certificate program, you will need the following:

  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a regionally-accredited educational institution in the U.S. (or international equivalent). 
  • An overall grade-point-average (GPA) of at least 2.7 out of 4.0. 

Note: The GRE or GMAT is not required for admission to Graduate Programs in Software. We do not require any graduate entrance exam.

Admission Deadlines and Semester Start

Applications for Admission are accepted on an ongoing basis. You may begin your graduate program in the fall, spring, or summer. 

Application Submission Deadlines:

  • U.S. citizens, Permanent Residents and H-1B visa recipients: At least one month before the semester starts.
  • International applicants currently living in the U.S.:  At least two months before the semester starts. 
  • International applicants living outside of the U.S.: Please apply at least four months before the semester starts.

Applications for Admission received after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis.

Admission deadlines for U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and H-1B visa holders:

International students living within the U.S should apply at least two months before the start of the term they desire entry. International students living outside of the U.S. should apply at least four months prior to the start of the term they desire entry.

  1. Complete the online application for admission
  2. Pay the $50 U.S. dollars application fee (non-refundable)*
  3. R‌equest transcripts from every college/university you have attended**

*Graduate Programs in Software (GPS) information session attendees, UST graduates and UST employees are eligible for a discount on the application fee. Contact the GPS Office at gradsoftware@stthomas.edu or 651-962-5500 for details. Submitted fees are non-refundable.

** Note to International applicants: Transcripts from non- U.S. institutions have special considerations. Please view the International Applicant procedures

 
Items you will need to complete the online application:

  1. Admissions essay or statement of purpose (in .doc, .txt, .rtf or .pdf format): This one to two page essay should state why you want to enter this program. 
  2. Resume or CV with work history (in .doc, .txt, .rtf or .pdf format)
  3. Application processing fee payment may be paid online with Visa, MasterCard or Discover. If you prefer you may send a check or money order made payable to the University of St. Thomas.

Where to Send Transcripts

All transcripts should be sent directly from the issuing institution's Registrar department. We require ALL transcripts from each university/college you have attended.

You may complete the GPS Transcript Request Form and send it to the Registrar's department of ALL the universities/colleges you have attended.
