Dan Tysver is a frequent lecturer and author on patent, copyright, trademark, and Internet legal issues. He has spoken at over twenty seminars on intellectual property issues. In addition, Dan has written numerous articles, and is a chapter author in a recently published college textbook on Internet ethics. Dan is the author of BitLaw, an award winning website on intellectual property law.

Dan is the primary outside intellectual property counsel for companies ranging from the Fortune 100 to start-up companies and solo inventors. These clients deal with a broad range of technologies, with many of Dan's clients working in the computer hardware, computer software, data storage, and networking areas.

He began his teaching career at the University of St. Thomas in 2000.
