Informal mentoring is a way of communicating and networking among GPS alumni or having GPS alumni help current students with a variety of tasks.
GPS alumni are volunteering their time, knowledge, and experience in the following areas:
How can a GPS student get help on these topics?
GPS students who need help with one or more of the topics listed above will e-mail their name, UST ID#, and current contact information to gradsoftware@stthomas requesting a mentor and note what areas in which they would like to receive assistance. After the GPS staff receives the request for a mentor, we will give out the names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses of alumni who have agreed to mentor students. GPS students are responsible for contacting the alumni and seeking out the help they need.
As a GPS alumnus how can I become a mentor?
Any alumnus who wishes to volunteer their time, knowledge, and experience on one or more of the topics listed above (or any other) can either send an email to gradsoftware@stthomas.edu stating that they are interested in becoming a GPS mentor and what areas of help/experience they can provide. Please indicate all areas in which you are willing to mentor students. When a student requests help on a topic you have chosen to discuss, your contact information (name, phone number, and e-mail address) will be released to the student requesting help.
