Career Services for GPS Students and Alumni

As a GPS student or alumnus, you have access to many of the career assistance programs offered through the Graduate Business Career Services (GBCS) of the Opus College of Business or the University of St. Thomas Career Development Center including:

  • Free workshops on networking, resume writing, job-hunt correspondence, interviewing skills
  • Individual career coaching appointments
  • Invitations to networking events (e.g. “Master’s Connection”), career speakers, and career fairs
  • On-campus and informational interviewing
  • Alumni Connections events are available for all GPS alumni: www.stthomas.edu/business/alumni/events
  • Access to “GradBizRecruiting”, an online job and internship posting site which provides hiring employers with an effective way to connect with qualified candidates. You can search for the most current internship and job opportunities as well as publish your résumé online for employers to view. Employers access this system to post jobs, view résumés and schedule interviews.

To access GradBizRecruiting:
• Send an e-mail to gradcareers@stthomas.edu and attach a copy of a current résumé AND a copy of a cover letter you could use, or have used recently, to apply for a particular position.
• These materials will be reviewed by the GBCS staff. If the résumé and cover letter are satisfactory you will be sent GradBizRecruiting access information.
• If your materials need fine-tuning, GBCS will contact you with options for one-on-one coaching or attendance at career workshops.

All current GPS students may participate in on-campus interviewing (OCI) during their final two semesters of enrollment. You are eligible for three additional months of OCI following graduation. After that, alumni are eligible for up to three appointments per year with a GBCS career coach and can access the University of St. Thomas job postings that do not involve on-campus interviewing.

Students and alumni from outside the United States may wish to consult the GBCS staff about cultural differences in résumé or cover letter preparation, networking etiquette or interviewing styles. Career Services coaches will also work with international students to maximize their opportunities if they wish to find an internship or work in the United States after graduation.

Graduate Business Career Services staff includes team members with an employment background in IT. They look forward to working with you to achieve your career goals. GBCS is located on the Minneapolis campus in Terrence Murphy Hall, Suite 251, 1000 LaSalle Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55403-2005 (the corner of 10th St. and LaSalle), from  8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with additional hours by appointment, (651) 962-8807.
