Thank you for your interest in Graduate Programs in Software (GPS) at the University of St. Thomas.

Decisions on admission to a GPS master's degreee, graduate certificate, or non-degree program are made on an ongoing basis as each applicant’s file is completed and reviewed. 

Applicants who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or have an H-1 visa are encouraged to submit their application at least one month before the semester in which they desire entry. International applicants who currently reside outside the U.S. should submit their application at least four months prior.

Priority Dates for Admission

We will consider applications up to and including the first day of class for all prospective students (this offer excludes students holding J-1 Visas).

Applications for Admission received after the deadlines listed below will be considered on a space available basis.

Admission priority deadlines for U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and H-1B visa holders:

Admission priority deadlines for International students:

International students living within the U.S should apply at least two months before the start of the term they desire entry. International students living outside of the U.S. should apply at least four months prior to the start of the term they desire entry.

Application Process and Requirements

When you apply to St. Thomas, your educational background is carefully evaluated. The Graduate Programs in Software (GPS)department requires the following materials in order to complete your application. As soon as the department has received all the necessary materials needed to complete your application, your application file is processed and goes into the queue for your admissions acceptance review.

• GPS Online Application for Admission 
• Application fee of $50 (non-refundable)*
  Payment options:
  Pay online with Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.
  Or send check or money order made payable to the University of St. Thomas.

  *Application fee is reduced for all UST graduates, UST students enrolled in a graduate program, UST employees, and individuals who have attended an information session or individual consultation. You must contact gradsoftware@stthomas.edu and receive your discount code from the GPS office prior to paying your application fee online or writing a check. Submitted fees are
  non-refundable.
• Resume with work history (in .doc, .txt, .rtf, or .pdf format)
• Admission essay/statement of purpose giving your reasons for wanting to enter this program. Essays can be one to two pages (in .doc, .txt, .rtf, or .pdf format).
• Official transcripts sent from every college/university you have attended. Master’s programs require a bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited educational institution in the U.S. (or the equivalent degree if earned outside the U.S.) for admission. An overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.7 meets minimum requirements, but applicants with lower GPAs will be considered based on their professional experience.

• The GRE or GMAT is not required for the GPS programs
