
Thank you for your interest in Graduate Programs in Software (GPS) at the University of St. Thomas. Since its inception in 1985, GPS has graduated over 2,200 software professionals. GPS offers master’s degrees and certificate programs specially designed for working professionals who are seeking to advance their present career or individuals planning a career change to the software field. Many of our graduates return to take additional courses as we continually enhance our curriculum.
The curriculum has been designed by committees of industry representatives and GPS alumni working in partnership with full-time faculty. As a result, GPS programs are responsive to the Software/Information Technology/Information Systems community, and are therefore valued as good education resources. Because GPS courses balance theoretical concepts and practical applications, they offer value in your current job as well as a strong foundation for your future.
GPS offers three masters programs, four graduate certificate programs, and six optional concentrations. The masters and certificate programs available for enrollment as of spring 2008 are:

In addition, GPS serves professionals each year by offering customizable seminars, special lectures, and “mini” programs which are offered on the University campus or brought to a company’s site.

GPS provides a high-quality graduate education that integrates state-of-the-art software technologies into workplace solutions. Our programs balance both theoretical concepts and practical applications for high performance software technologies.
Our classes are offered evenings (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) and Saturdays for the convenience of scheduled working professionals. Classes meet on our Saint Paul, MN campus and in Rochester, MN.
GPS assesses needs of the workplace on a continuous basis and responds to those needs through constantly updating and enhancing the curriculum.
Over 400 students are currently active, most of whom are software professionals representing a broad range of industries.Our student body is culturally diverse and presents a special advantage to students preparing to work in a global economy and environment.
Established in 1985, our program was one of the first graduate-level software programs offered in the United States of America. We have served as a model for graduate level education and professional development in software.
