Birbilis has been a fulltime member of the faculty in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of St. Thomas since 1990 and is currently an associate professor. She has previously served in administrative positions while on faculty, having served as the Interim Practicum/Internship Coordinator in 1992 and the Interim Dean from 2002 to 2004. She has taught a variety of courses in the master's and doctoral programs and currently teaches Doctoral Practicum, Introduction to Doctoral Studies in Counseling Psychology, a Professional Seminar, and Introduction to Group psychotherapy. She has served as chair of over 30 doctoral project committees. Dr. Birbilis has been teaching, engaging in scholarly work, and offering direct service as a therapist since 1981. She is licensed as a psychologist, is certified as a Senior Biofeedback Fellow, and focuses her private practice on life/work balance and transitions and on behavioral medicine and health psychology. Dr. Birbilis has expertise in spirituality and mental health, diversity in assessment and psychotherapy, supervision and consultation, training and education, identity development and lifespan issues, and social skills and human relations. Dr. Birbilis' most recent scholarly work has focused on independent practice and the business of psychology. |
