Prospective students must have completed an undergraduate degree from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency prior to enrolling in the M.A. counseling psychology program. An undergraduate degree in psychology is not required.

Admission is granted twice a year. Completed applications are due March 1 for admission to the following fall semester and October 15th for the following spring semester.

In order for an application to be considered, the file must contain:

  1. Completed application form and $50.00 fee
  2. Official copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts
  3. Two letters of recommendation, addressing the candidate's suitability for the program
  4. Graduate Record Exam (school code: R6110) score

  6. For International Students, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required.

M.A. Admission - Non Degree

Students who take courses in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology are normally accepted into the M.A. program prior to beginning coursework. Students seeking nondegree admission must submit an application form with items 1-3 completed, the $50.00 application fee and official copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts. If a degree application is pursued later, the entire application must be completed, with exception of the application fee. These students may take courses with the approval of the dean of the school. Nondegree admission status does not guarantee acceptance into the degree program. Courses taken under the nondegree admission status are applicable work at a later time if the student is granted admission into the degree program. Approved courses are: CPSY 600, 602, 605, 611, 612, 631, 650 & 680.

Registration for all nondegree students is held during the last registration period for the semester the student is seeking registration. Consult the course schedule for the registration dates and times. Provided space is available, nondegree student registration will be accepted for the above courses. A total of nine credits can be taken by a nondegree student. With prior approval from the dean, this limit may be raised.
