Lake Superior Research Cruise

Geo2Geology faculty, students, and recent alumni took part in an all-day voyage aboard the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Research Vessel Blue Heron on Lake Superior during September, 2013. We learned about the vessel’s capabilities, collected physical and chemical data for lake waters, and participated in water and sediment sample collection at various locations offshore of Duluth. Data and materials collected on this cruise will be explored further in future offerings of Dr. Kevin Theissen’s Oceanography (GEOL 220) course.
