Field experiences

We believe that the best way to learn the practice of geology is in the field. For this reason, we offer field trip opportunities for students with a range of geological skills and backgrounds. Many of these trips are open to non-majors. Click on the links below to see photos of some of our field lab experiences and other field trips!

Rachel has been pursuing research on structure and tectonics of the southern Basin and Range, Nevada. Bre uses her combined geology and biology skills to understand ancient microbial deposits that hold the key to past climate. Cabin is working on high resolution mapping and structural analysis of the Bitter Spring quadrangle, southern Nevada. Nora has been working with a series of sediment cores from South America to better understand past and present climate conditions.
