The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies offers a major geography, a major geography with a concentration area in GIS, and a major in environmental studies. It also offers minors in geography, geographic information systems (GIS), and environmental studies.
The department promotes active research, internships, student research grants, collaboration between faculty and students and service learning. Students gain a solid foundation in geographic principles and techniques, as well as a deeper understanding of how the interactions between people and the environment shape the landscapes we inhabit.
Problem solving, critical thinking, data analysis, communication, and collaboration are hallmarks of our discipline. These proficiencies are sought by employers everywhere. With foundations in both the natural and social sciences, the department prepares students for a wide range of careers in government, the private sector, and education.
