Application Process for New Transfers

St. Thomas Institutional Funding

To be considered for institutional funding from the University of St. Thomas as a transfer student, you must first apply and be accepted for admission to St. Thomas. Students who have been accepted are encouraged to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). After we receive the results of your FAFSA, our office will determine your aid eligibility for institutional funding, as well as other financial aid for the upcoming academic year based on financial need and your admissions credentials.

Please contact our office if you have any questions about the application process.

FAFSA on the Web

You can file your FAFSA online via the U.S. Department of Education Web site. The FAFSA on the Web application collects the same information as the paper version. Before you can complete a FAFSA on the Web, you and your parent (if applicable) must request and receive a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the U.S. Department of Education. To request your PIN go to http://www.pin.ed.gov.

We recommend you gather the following documents to assist you when filing your FAFSA:

  • Your most recent Federal Income Tax Returns and W-2 statements
  • Current bank statements
  • Records of stocks, bonds and other investments
  • Any other records pertaining to earned income or assets

Paper FAFSA

The U.S. Department of Education strongly encourages applicants to file electronically. Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year, paper FAFSAs will no longer be sent to schools to distribute to students. Paper applications will also not be automatically sent to students who have filed a paper FAFSA previously.

If you would like to file a paper FAFSA, you must call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243 to request a paper application be mailed to you.
