Nearly all incoming freshmen students receive an institutional commitment in the form of an award and/or scholarship from the University of St. Thomas. Scholarships and awards are determined based on the credentials presented on your application for admission and your academic transcripts. You must first apply and be accepted for admission to the University of St. Thomas to be considered for institutional, merit-based funds.
To receive additional need-based financial aid at the University of St. Thomas, you must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). After we receive the results of your FAFSA, our office will notify you of your need-based aid eligibility for the upcoming academic year.
Please contact our office if you have any questions about the application process.
You can file your FAFSA online via the U.S. Department of Education Web site. The FAFSA on the Web application collects the same information as the paper version. Before you can complete a FAFSA on the Web, you and one of your parents (if applicable) must request and receive a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the U.S. Department of Education. To request a PIN go to http://www.pin.ed.gov.
We recommend you gather the following documents to assist you when filing your FAFSA:
The U.S. Department of Education strongly encourages applicants to file electronically. Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year, paper FAFSAs will no longer be sent to schools to distribute to students. Paper applications will also not be automatically sent to students who have filed a paper FAFSA previously.
If you would like to file a paper FAFSA, you must call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243 to request a paper application be mailed to you.
