UST Women's History Project
Request for Proposals - UST Women's History Project
The St. Thomas Women Faculty Leadership Council seeks proposals from faculty and/or students to document women leaders through UST’s history.
From well before St. Thomas became a co-educational institution in 1977, women have played important roles in the life of the university. For instance, Bernice Folz established the graduate programs in software, Nancy Zingale was the first woman named Professor of the Year, and Shelly Ann Moorman was among the first women administrators when she was named associate dean of students in 1977.
Because many of these women are nearing retirement or have already retired, the Women Faculty Leadership Council seeks to document their important contributions to our university.
An award of up to $4300 will be given for stipend(s) and/or expenses related to the project.
The Leadership Council expects the project to be completed by September 1, 2015. Preference will be given to proposals that recognize the breadth of contributions made by a variety of women over the years. Multi-media projects are encouraged, but proposals for written work will also be entertained. While the project may be appropriate for dissemination through academic venues, it should be designed with the intention that St. Thomas community members are the primary audience. Proposals from individual faculty members or students, or from teams (which may be composed of faculty, students, or both) will be considered. Successful applicants will work with Leadership Council members to finalize plans and ensure thorough coverage of relevant topics/issues.
To apply, submit a proposal to Wendy Wyatt at email@example.com by October 1, 2014.
Proposals – not exceeding five, double-spaced pages – should include:
- description of the proposed project
- explanation of the research activities and methods
- a timeline
- detailed budget with a breakdown of expenses and/or stipends
- statement of preparation/qualifications to conduct the research
Questions about the RFP should be addressed to Wendy Wyatt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
